Giving thanks this weekend.

I have always quite enjoyed the autumn.  It is truly a time to consider the many blessings that we receive.  It is the rush to finish harvest combining, canning, butchering and winterizing the home, combined with the fresh brisk weather, not too hot and not too cold.  It is a time when a family comes together to prepare and give thanks for the bounty of the harvest.  It is my hope that all of our grade four families are blessed with a bountiful autumn season.  And, while gathering with family for love and thanks, have come to realized the true plethora of  all Canadians.

WOW! it seems the week has only begun and in a blink of an eye it is finished. This was once again a very busy week.  Today we had an enjoyable morning at the McClab Theatre.  The performers have been Juno nominated and presented  a musical performance called Fiddlefire.  There were several students there from B.G.D.S.  Many of the students had an opportunity to perform on stage.

Thursday the students all participated in East Elementary's first 'Turkey Trot.'  The grade threes and fours raced by gender wearing beaks.  The winner of each race received a turkey headband and a book.  Congratulations to Abigail and Grayson.

This week we learned that our top grade four runners placed well enough to put East Elementary School in second place overall.  We were very pleased and proud.   Our boys and girls are strong and by grade six who knows what can happen.

Spelling words were given out via Spelling City on Thursday, October 3rd.  At the moment all students are getting the same words however this should change as we get into the spelling.  I will quiz and distribute the new words  on Thursdays.  These words can be accessed on a website called Spelling City.  You should be able to use the link below on this blog.  Because I believe it is important the students learn to spell the words correctly, they will continue to write the test until they get 100%.  So all students will be coming home with a 100% certificate.   The  question is how many trys did it take to get that 100%.
