Oh what a week. . .

Well here it is Friday again and what a busy day.  On a short week we always try to squeeze five days of work into three days of school.  The big excitement this week is our school elections.  We elect a Student Council at East Elementary School.  So the Grade Fives and Sixes were busy over the past weeks making election promises and giving speeches.  Today the students got to vote and we have new student leadership.  In Grade Four we will be voting for two Student Room Representatives.   They will be given the task of attending any meetings of Student Council as well as reporting back to me in regards to what happened in Assembly.  We have several students who are interested in applying for this position.  We will be holding speeches on Monday morning and the students will vote after that time.  So we shall have our results out for next week.

We will be having a fieldtrip on Thursday, October 23, 2013 in the morning.  We are visiting the Leduc #1 Discovery Centre which ties in directly with our Social Studies topic this year -   Alberta.  Leduc #1 is a great place to learn about the oil business, starting  from its meager  beginnings.  The first part of the year will be spending learning about our natural resources and the different regions in which these resources are found.

Next week holds an opportunity for us to meet.  If you have not yet booked your appointment you can do so by going to the following address   http://eastelementary.schoolappointments.com/ . You must register to begin.

It is my hope to get the second part of our blog operating over the next couple weeks with Student providing some contributions.
