Keep Healthy

Many of us have been ill over the past two weeks.  We are fighting off some flu bug that has come to visit grade four. In the classroom we are being extra careful to ensure that our hands are washed, we are using tissue and so on.  Hopefully, it will pass soon.

We are happy to welcome Alex to our grade four class.  He and his family have just moved to Leduc.  Alex has two younger brothers.  Likewise, it is with great saddness that we  have to say good bye to Colin.  He was new to East Elementary this year.  He has moved houses and will be attending a new school.  We wish Colin all the best in his future learning.

We are still busy researching the Natural Regions of Alberta.  We will be comparing the similarities and differences between the regions.  We explore items such as location, landforms, water systems, geology, plants and animals,  climate, demographics and cultural belief.  We will be representing the region  on an Alberta map in the classroom.   Also, we are still gathering data through our researching which we will compare with the other natural regions.  We are learning how to choose suitable information that is going to be required to share with our classmates.

In our journal writing this week  we are learned how to narrow down a topic.   We chose one event from our recent past and wrote about it using the 5W's.  There was some very good writing that came from this activity.  We continue to work on our Spelling words that can be found on Spelling City.  Plus we have been looking at Spelling Strategies that can help us remember how to spell a word.  Soon we will be having a second review test.

Keep healthy and keep warm!
